About Us

Marnie Memmolo
E-RYT 500, YACEP, RPYT, Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor and Certified Dancing for Birth Instructor

In my mid 20’s, I was encouraged by my mother to try yoga as means to deal with health issues, the stress I faced working in corporate sales and simply finding greater life fulfillment.  A dancer in my youth and yearning for the joy that movement brought to my life, I found my first yoga class at a dance studio in Cambridge, MA.  Not knowing what I was getting into, I expected to jump around, move and sweat. Instead, I found myself in a beginner Iyengar yoga class that was slow, methodical movement that encouraged breath awareness and finding deep stillness from within. This was unlike anything I had experienced before.  I left class renewed, joyful and alive.  I found my authentic Self again and was home.

I received my 200 hour yoga certification through Kim Valeri at Yogaspirit Studios in 2001 and have been teaching ever since.  In 2004 I completed a 500 hour training with Barbara Benagh at The Yoga Studio in Boston and another 300 hours with Sheila McVay at Johns Creek Yoga.  My eclectic style focuses on conscious awareness of the breath, form and alignment that synthesizes many techniques to improve health, facilitate relaxation and relieve stress. I hold additional specialized training in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Pelvic Floor Yoga, Thai Yoga and Prajna SATYA (Sensory Awareness Technique for Yoga Attunement).  I am a certified instructor in Prenatal Yoga, Postpartum/Yoga Mom, Buddha Baby, Karma Kids Movement and Development, Yoga Ed. and Dancing For Birth™ as well as trained in Stott Pilates matwork and Total Barre™.  In addition, to my yoga and fitness certifications, I am an Ayurvedic Health Coach through Kerala Ayurveda Academy and a Doula in training.

 About My Birthwork:

I believe that birth is a transformative experience for every family, and everyone deserves a safe and healthy birth experience. My intention is to hold space for individuals to navigate life’s big transitions as they prepare for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual rite of passage of birth and parenting. I value an inclusive, non-judgmental culture of evidence-based information, community care, mindfulness, intuition, and choice. I seek to empower birthing parents to make the most of their vast inner resources. Through knowledge and experience, each birth person is encouraged to discover their inner strength and truth through this heroic and transformative journey.

In addition to Birthing from Within childbirth methods, I integrate my 20+ years of experience as a Yoga teacher/training facilitator and Ayurveda Health Coach into my work for a more comprehensive approach to supporting perinatal families with movement, stress management, nutrition, and lifestyle practices. This holistic approach not only fosters resiliency but cultivates vibrant living and lifetime healthy habits that extend beyond the perinatal sacred window.

My intention is to build an inclusive space where birthing people of all gender identities, sexualities, and family structures feel welcome and see themselves represented. I believe in the 3 C’s: Community, Connection, and Compassion to find your life purpose and become in service to the world.

I am a dedicated and inspired teacher committed to sharing the benefits and joys of yoga with students of all ages and abilities. I welcome new and experienced students and look forward to sharing a heart-opening experience with all.  In my spare time, I enjoy being in nature (especially the ocean), gardening, cooking, art, golf, skiing, and family time with my husband, Michael, and daughter, Ava Grace.

Maha Moon’s Mission:

Maha Moon* fosters healthy, holistic, vibrant living through the ancient wisdom and classical teachings of Yoga, principles of Pilates, and Ayurveda in programs that are applicable for modern times. Our services specialize in supporting Fertility, Pregnancy, Postpartum and beyond. We welcome all ages and abilities and are designed to nurture every phase of your life.

Yoga invites us to embody the qualities of the moon and all it’s aspects. Yogic philosophy, postures, meditation and breath condition the body, calm the nervous system and invite us to take time for contemplation and self reflection. Pilates and it’s accompanying principles connect us deeply to our body’s power and inner strength.  Together yoga and Pilates create quiet moments in which we experience greater awareness of our body, mind and deepest Self.

Ayurvedic wisdom guides us to be in right relationship and harmony with the rhythms of nature and all aspects of life - physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual.  With education and understanding of our unique mind-body constitution or dosha, we can live with increased vitality, quality, longevity and prevent imbalances that lend to disease.

*Our name’s sacred meaning:

Maha means “great.” The greatness of the moon reflects the light of the sun, illuminating our path as we navigate through our lives even during times of darkness.

Lunar phases represent different aspects of our lives.  There’s a consistency to the moon. Each phase beginning new, empty, and full of infinite potential and possibility. Each cycle ending whole, complete and serves as a reminder of our potential to return to our fullness time and time again.

Energy of the moon governs the tides. Our physical make up is comprised mostly of the water element (70%), so there’s no wonder that the moon has a strong pull on our own energy, inviting us to be fluid in nature, enter into the current of life and not resist it.

I just wanted to say thank you for the blissful moments of serenity you provided for me during this pregnancy. So much was going on in my life, both good and bad, and having those one or two hours of solace was the best thing for me.
